It’s always sunny in New Jersey

It’s going to be a BEAUTIFUL weekend here in New Jersey, so get out to the ballpark! The Somerset Patriots, Lakewood BlueClaws, Trenton Thunder and New York Mets are all at home this weekend. T-shirt giveaways, fireworks, hats, magnetic schedules?!? You couldn’t ask for more.
I’ll be down in Lambertville this Saturday for the annual SHAD [...]

Stars Both Big and Small

-According to the fantastic site AtlanticLeagueBaseball.com, the York Revolution have released the 3′2″ Dave Flood. The Great Experiment has come to an end. I guess he’s not the On Base machine they thought he’d be.
-If you want to see some big stars, T-Pain and Flo-Rida will be playing at Campbell’s Field, home of the Camden [...]

Tuesday News and Notes

Lots of upcoming baseball goodness!
-The Atlantic League opens play this Thursday. All three New Jersey teams will be in action, although only one at home. The Camden Riversharks open against the defending champs Somerset Patriots in Bridgewater, while the Newark Bears open on the road against the Lancaster Barnstormers.
-New Jersey native and potential NFL first [...]

Rainbow Connection

Sorry for the lack of updates, but getting back into the swing of things after vacation is little tough. I’ll be back this afternoon with some news and notes, and starting Tuesday, we’ll be posting the review of our visit to see the Connecticut Defenders.
In the meantime, enjoy this picture, courtesy of the Northwest Arkansas [...]

Have you heard?

I’ll be twittering from the Connecticut Defenders-Trenton Thunder game in beautiful Norwich, CT. Follow Live at www.twitter.com/summerofglove

This is the life

-Even though I lost $80 gambling, the weather here in Connecticut is unbelievable, the food has been great, I don’t what more I could ask for. Actually I do–the $80 back that I lost gambling.
-Former Met coming to Brooklyn: John Franco will be at KeySpan Park on April 26th from 9 to 11 a.m. Brooklyn [...]

On Vacation

-We’re up in Connecticut enjoying some R&R. A little gambling at Foxwoods, then to lovely Mystic, some Connecticut Defender baseball on Friday, and Yale on Saturday.
-We’ll be twittering from the game on Friday, so be sure to point your browsers to twitter.com/summerofglove
-I was deeply saddened by the passing of Mark Fidrych the other day. The [...]

Sad Day

Philadelphia Phillies broadcasting legend Harry Kalas died at the age of 73. Kalas had been the voice of the Phillies for the past 38 years. He was found passed out in the Washington Nationals press booth, and died a short time later.
I probably had heard Kalas more as the voice of NFL Films, but I [...]

Thunder Rained out

Too much rain and cold. Game was pushed back to a 2:05 start, and we couldn’t justify driving an hour, waiting for 2 hours to see if it would be played, and if it wasn’t, another hour home. As it turns out the game was rained out.
We’ll postpone our trip to Trenton for another time. [...]

Friday Update

-No real update today, but we’ll be back on Saturday with a little more info about us, where we’re going, why, and what you can expect over the next few weeks.
-On Saturday, we’re attending our first game of the season, Trenton Thunder v Binghamton Mets, a battle of the AA affiliates of the Yankees and [...]
