The Summer of Glove

My name is Bob, and I live in the central New Jersey town of Clark. I’m a huge baseball fan, first discovering the sport in 1976 when I attended a Yankees-White Sox with a Cub Scout group, and I’ve been enthralled ever since. I’ve been to hundreds of games since then, and have a memory from each and every game. As time passed, I found that it became harder and harder to get tickets for the games, and more and more expensive. Three years ago, I did some research, and found that there were a bunch of minor league teams in New Jersey, and in nearby New York, that were affordable for families. Instead of spending $30 for a Yankee ticket and sitting about 5,000 feet  from the field, I could go to a small, cozy stadium, sit 6 rows off the field, and spend $10 for a seat. I spent one summer visiting all the stadiums in the state, and had a great time. I wanted to share this info with friends and family, basically saying that there were alternatives to the big ticket prices and big concession costs, and we could see the same sport we love, and see the stars of the future. This year, influenced by great books like The Ultimate Minor League Baseball Road Trip and The Ultimate Baseball Road Trip, I decided to do the same, but on a smaller level. I found all the minor league/independent league teams within a 2 hour drive of my house, 14 in total, and over the next 20 weeks, I’ll be attending a game in each one of those parks.The trip looks something like the image posted here. We’ll be rating the ballparks on several different categories, and, in the end, rate the parks overall. We’ll give you info on what you should do and see when you’re in the area of the stadiums. We’ll tell you where to sit and what to eat. We’ll give you costs and stats, because every baseball fan loves stats. We’ll give you everything you need to know when you go to the ball park.
