-The biggest recent news is that Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp will be playing a concert at First Energy Stadium, home of the Lakewood Blueclaws. The show is Thursday July 23rd at 5:30. All tickets are general admission, are $67.50 (not bad at all), and are available through Ticketmaster. I would love to go, but it probably isn’t logistically possible.
-Lakewood will be holding their 9th Annual Celebrity Waiter & Auction Benefit. It’s a buffet dinner where the players are waiters and the coaches are bartenders. The tickets are $40 all proceeds go to the ALS Association of Philadelphia. For more info and how to get tickets, you can click here.
-Friday night, May 8th, Lakewood will also have Carl Edwards’ #60 car will be on display at the stadium. I’m not that familiar with NASCAR, but I kind of know who Edwards is. I had my picture taken with Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s car last year. I’m not sure why, but it seemed like a big deal, so I did it. The picture is currently on the front page.
-Brooklyn Cyclone tickets are now on sale. I suggest getting tickets early, because the summer weekend games are packed. It may be favorite minor league park, but we’ll see about that later.
-Good story in today’s New York Daily News about being the Cyclone’s mascot, Sandy the Seagull.
-The Cyclones are also having a great Father’s Day special: you can play catch with your dad. Buy your tickets, and before the game, the two of you can go onto the outfield grass and play catch. Awesome.
-The Somerset Patriots will be holding a wine tasting event, this Friday, May 8th. It’s $40 for Barefoot wines, a buffet and a ticket to the game. Considering the number of wineries in New Jersey, I’m surprised they went with a California based winery.
-Looking for Mother’s Day fun at the park? You’re in luck:
The Lakewood Blue Claws will host Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The Blueclaws will wear pink jerseys that day, which will then be auctioned off after the game. All proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Fund.
The Somerset Patriots will also have Breast Cancer Awareness Day, and will also wear pink jersey that’ll be up for auction. The first 2,000 women in the park will receive pink Patriot hats.
Finally, the Trenton Thunder will do same as the others, but the first 1,000 women will get pink replica jerseys.
You can read more about these games and get tickets for these games by clicking on the respective teams in the blogroll at the bottom of the page.
-Enough for today. My thumb still isn’t right from the Great Bathroom Flood of ‘09.
